I have been to Florence almost every year consecutively since I was a child. Each time I visit, it’s a new experience with nostalgic moments intertwined. The traditional Italian food is delicious, the markets sell amazing leather goods for decent prices (brush up on your bargaining skills), and each road has an authentic feel.
The city has a rich history, especially in art. Remarkable people such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Sandro Botticelli, and Giotto all invented, painted, and developed some of the most important creations of the renaissance period.
If you are an artistic person like me, you’ll definitely want to visit the Uffizi Gallery. Make sure to pre-book tickets because lines can be excruciating long.

The Ponte Vecchio (pictured above) is a bridge crossing the Arno river. It’s one of the most picturesque places in florence and is known for its many goldsmiths and jewellery stalls. Sunset is when it’s most beautiful, an orange hue envelops the sky which makes the whole of the romantic city golden.

When in Italy, gelato is a requirement at least once a day. It really is the best ice cream in the world! I always go for the traditional Fragola (Strawberry) and Cioccolatto (Chocolate) but that’s just because I’m a creature of habit…the choice is endless!
